Day 9 Leaving Las Vegas

We spent the day touring by car and by foot, mostly around the center and south parts of the Strip. First up was New York New York New York, with their roller coaster, Times Square marquee, and 2 Statue of Libertys, one made of Jellie Bellies. Across the street was the Excalibur, where we found a wedding chapel. On the way to the MGM Grand's M & M World, Amy finally found Elvis, and got him to pose with her and Sarah. He had been drinking. The Hard Rock Cafe next door is displaying an exact replica of my electric guitar! We had planned to go to the Cosmopolitan Hotel's buffet for lunch, because it the highest rated buffet in Las Vegas, but we arrived just as they were closing, so we had lunch back at our hotel instead. Sarah and Samuel did have fun clowning around in some of the Cosmo's lobby "Art". After lunch we hung around Circus Circus, caught some more BigTop acts, and visited the Midway and the arcade. Sam and Sarah had fun with the games and air hockey. Sam won a huge pile of stuffed animals on the Midway. And I got to eat at a Buffet! We capped off the night with a short drive to the Tremont Street Experience. It's in what's called "downtown" Las Vegas, not on the Strip, and includes an overhead light show, live performance stages, lights everywhere, and some very unusual people. We only stayed a little while, But Sarah and Samuel both got an eyeful of some less mainstream Las Vegas partying. Starting tomorrow, we will probably not be able to post, and may not even be in cell phone range while we are at the Grand Canyon. I'll try to find hot spots occasionally and post a note or check email. We should be back on the grid by Sunday night at the latest as we begin our return trip. We have enjoyed seeing Vegas, a first for all of us, but it's not our kind of place for a long stay. We will be happy to get on our way to Arizona tomorrow.
