Day 16 Em eye ess ess eye ess ess eye pee pee eye
Another pretty unremarkable day of travel. We got out of the La Quinta Inn ASAP after sending a complaint to the Corporate headquarters. They are "looking into the matter".
We headed east and stopped at a Popeye's Chicken for some Louisiana food. They had a cool mural of some jazz legends, and a lizard in the window who was enjoying the sunshine. We crossed the swamps and bayous of central Louisiana and finally got to Mississippi about 5 pm.
We got to Biloxi and found our Super 8 motel, which is a considerable improvement from last night's. The ocean is across the street, and it's neat and clean. I did a little research and found a great open air restaurant on the beach called Shaggy's. We had a short wait for a table so we walked on the beach and enjoyed the casino lights as they came on down the beach.
Dinner was one of the best meals we've had on our trip! Amy had some great crab cakes (Chef Aimee's), and I had a great redfish prepared with a cajun cream sauce that was spiced just right. The kids were content with a shrimp basket and a fish basket. Everything was fresh, plentiful, inexpensive and the service was great. They had a tabletop cornhole game with tiny little beanbags, and a cool fishing pole setup to let the servers know you needed attention.
After dinner we drove through the rest of the Biloxi Beach strip (which isn't very much) and got some souvenirs at a huge gift shop called Sharkheads. The kids liked the shark props all over the store.
Tomorrow we drive to our final hotel in Panama City Beach FL and wrap up our trip on the white sands there. PLease reply or leave a comment!
