Day 16 Beachin' Pad, man!
We got out of Biloxi about 10am after a nice breakfast at the Super 8 with its courtyard pool. Apparently, the ocean is for sale across the street. We think the area is still recovering from the Hurricane, due to the number of open parcels of land for sale, concrete foundations with nothing on them, and new construction (and fountains!)springing up here and there.
A few silly pictures later we were in Destin, Florida, where the shallow harbor is a big attraction for boat owners, and the public pier is popular with shoppers ad patrons of the Harborwalk. Finally we got to Panama City Beach. Our hotel, Sugar Sands, has a beachside pool and hot tub, and our room has a balcony literally feet from the sand. The kids had a ball clowning on the balcony. It was so nice we didn't want to go out to eat so we got a pretty good pizza from a place nearby. We'll get a big seafood dinner tomorrow to wrap up our trip.
We swam in the ocean and the pool until dusk, watched the sun go down, got some ice cream, took a walk on the beach in the dark, and called it a great day. One more to go and then we are on our way home!
